Keene is the only city in, and the seat of, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 23,409 at the 2010 census. Keene became a manufacturing center for wooden-ware, pails, chairs, sashes, shutters, doors, pottery, glass, soap, woolen textiles, shoes, saddles, mowing machines, carriages and sleighs.
In 2010, the Base Hill Community Cooperative received funding to start a preliminary engineering report and receive expert input on their water system throughout their manufactured housing park. After the assessment was completed, actions were recommend and now the community requires an engineering design report along with the associated cost to bring their community up to code. Therefore, EWB-Tri Cities will help develop an engineering design report and cost estimations for changes needed in the distribution system.
Fun Fact: Much of the 1995 movie Jumanji, starring Robin Williams, was filmed in Keene.
